Winners of Corporate Responsibility Award 2020 Announced

On November 6, 2020, Global Compact Network Georgia, with the support from the Swedish Government, organized  Corporate Responsibility Award “Business for SDGs” for the third time in Georgia. The competition aims to develop a culture of responsible business conduct and encourage the participation of businesses in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Agenda 2030.

The winners of these categories were announced and awarded on November 6:

No Poverty; Quality Education; Decent Work and Economic Growth; Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure; Responsible Production and Consumption; Partnerships for the Goals.

In addition, media representatives have been recognized for promoting the corporate responsibility of Georgian businesses through highlighting the good practices.

At the end of the ceremony local round winner of the UN Global Compact SDG Pioneer programme  was announced. Valeri Chekheria, representing Adjara Group, was named SDG Pioneer 2020 from Georgia. SDG Pioneer is a leader who contributes to the advancement of the sustainable development goals by integrating global goals into the company work.

This year, the competition had more than 70 applications, which were evaluated by international and local jury members, representing government, international organizations, UN bodies, UN Global Compact Local Networks, academia and leading multi-national enterprises.

According to Salome Zurabishvili, Executive Director of Global Compact Network Georgia: “Corporate Responsibility Award is for the progressive, value-based and responsible business, which through its products and every-day operations contributes to Sustainable Development Agenda 2030. It’s an award for companies that bring long-term benefits to both: the company and the society”.

The award allows winners to gain recognition among the peers; Increase their credibility and reputation among the consumers, partners and investors; Influence corporate responsibility development in Georgia, through sharing best practices.

The Global Compact Network Georgia was established in 2016 and its members include companies, business associations, non-governmental organizations, and academic institutions.
